Acro
Acrobatic Dance (Acro) combines classical dance technique with the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Known for its unique choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, line, and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context. In this class, pupils will progress from foundational moves such as cartwheels and forward rolls to more advanced techniques including balancing, limbering, tumbling, partnering, aerials, flexibility, contortion, and strength. We use an Acropad Airtrack, which provides an extra element of fun and safety for tumbling practice.
Acro gained popularity with the wide spread success of the contemporary circus productions of Cirque du Soleil.
Main stream media including dance television programs like ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ and ‘Dance Moms’ have further fuelled its demand in amateur competitive dance and studio settings.
In this class pupils will learn things like cartwheels and roly-polys to more advanced techniques including balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, flexibility, contortion and strength. We follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus to ensure fun and safe progressions.
