Goodbye to Miss Shirley

July 8, 2018

What can I say? Miss Shirley has been truly AMAZING this year... a real life saver!

In September 2017 Miss Sharon decided she would like to have her weekends back for personal time and so sadly gave her notice to stop teaching at YRAD after Christmas. Having not being able to find a permanent replacement for her, Miss Shirley was an absolute gem and said she would cover the classes for as long as it took for me to find a permanent Saturday Ballet teacher.

Personally I admire Miss Shirley SOOOO much! She has struggled with ill health this year, but has remained dedicated to the students at YRAD (and elsewhere) to ensure their classes could continue. And she's 72 years old!!! (The most Glamorous 72 year old I've ever met for sure!)

As we come to a new academic year from September 2018, I'm pleased to say that we have a fantastic new Ballet teacher joining our team which means we can relieve Miss Shirley of the very full on "cover work" that she's been doing for us.

I know the children have greatly benefitted from her teaching this past year and I hope you will all pass on your own personal thanks in her last classes this coming Saturday (14th July) for Watching week.

Miss Shirley will continue to act as a cover teacher for us and other schools.

I don't know what the future holds for myself, but I'd imagine at 72yrs old I'd want to be taking it easy, but not Miss Shirley.. she keeps going! In fact she's asked if alongside coaching herself I will help in coaching her to take her own Grade 6 Ballet exam next year!! Holy Moly! Massive respect and ENDLESS THANK YOUS!!!
